22 hugo strange icons!
Jan. 29th, 2023 04:45 amthis is also a snowflake challenge fill for #10: make a fanwork!
some simple (i just edited out speech bubbles/text/frames, cleaned up the background and prettied up the colours a little), some more complex. most are from batman: prey.
preview:

feel free to use anywhere. i would love a comment if you use any, especially just to commiserate on loving this terrible terrible man

this gave me all of the fuzzy feelings from making graphics on tumblr in the 2010s. graphics were such a great way to try out compositions and concepts and aesthetics. at the time i was frustrated by the process of drawing and wasn't at the point i could visualise something and put something that matched it on the page, so it kind of gave me a taste of visual art concepts and made them way easier to see in action. i wasn't much of an icon maker though, so this was a new challenge. i did find myself struggling with the tiny sizing; it is absolutely an art of its own!
sorry if the sharpness is weird btw. by force of habit i smart sharpened with the same settings i used to use, because those settings would look great on a smaller monitor. now 100x100 looks absolutely miniscule on my current laptop - and everything is already super sharp so i would say you don't even need it (plus i mean it was just the standard back then. topaz clean + smart sharpen on absolutely everything, except if you were a person who vocally hated topaz clean). it was a different time.

Date: 2023-01-31 12:56 am (UTC)yeah definitely! i mostly made live action graphics back in my tumblr days so it's weird to do drawn mediums, the way different styles will mesh better with different stock and textures etc...
